New Website

March 11, 2008

Everyone, it’s time for a change. The old web site was getting a bit musty. So we’ve moved the site onto some new servers and have changed the overall structure so that it is better suited for conveying news and events.

Keep checking in. You’ll always find the latest updates at the top of this page. And the menu at the top will take you to other pages within the site where you can monitor the overal progress of our campaign, photo galleries, videos, and an interactive map of dogparks in the area. We hope you enjoy the new site!

What is a Dog Park?

March 11, 2008

Many people ask about what defines a Dog Park? We’ve taken some time to spell out what a Dog Park means to us in this document. Take a peek inside to find out what a dog park is, why they are good to have, and typical dog park rules.

Dognappers on the Prowl

April 7, 2007

In the last month there have been at least two incidents of attempted dognapping in Kirkwood.

In each attempt, while the dog was in its own yard, the dog was called to and approached on private property. Fortunately, the owners were nearby and questioned the man, who ran off, without comment, to a waiting car. The Kirkwood Police Department has been alerted to the situation.

Stealing dogs is not an uncommon practice with the purpose to sell our pets to research labs for upwards of $100 each. It is an underreported crime because typically no one sees what happened to their dog.

Please do not rely upon your invisible fence or a tie out to keep your dog safe.

The Kirkwood Dog Park Association is concerned that local residents keep their dogs protected and not suffer the heartache of discovering them vanished.

As published in the April 6 edition of the Webster-Kirkwood Times
